Dr. Netan Choudhry, MD, FRCSC, a distinguished Vitreoretinal and Refractive Cataract Surgeon, leads the Vitreous Retina Macula Specialists of Toronto. With affiliations at the University of Toronto and Harvard Medical School, he’s a faculty member at Cleveland Clinic Canada. He is an advisor to ophthalmic drug companies and has significantly contributed to innovations in ophthalmic imaging.
His expertise in complex cataract surgery is renowned, particularly in cases with pre-existing retinal diseases. Dr. Choudhry’s work, prominently featured in leading medical journals, showcases his pioneering status in retinal imaging.
He has published in the world’s most read/indexed journals including: The New England Journal of Medicine, the Lancet, Ophthalmology and the Retina Journal. Dr. Choudhry’s innovative work in the field of retina has also been published on the covers of numerous journals further earning him the distinction of a pioneer in retinal imaging.
He is actively involved in medical education and holds a key role in the OCTane Imaging Lab (OIL), mentoring a team and directing the Fellowship in Retinal Imaging & Artificial Intelligence. His research interests include artificial intelligence, retinal imaging, clinical trials, and clinical efficiency.
Dr. Choudhry has served on the board of directors of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) and the CNIB diabetic retinopathy & vision loss project. He has also worked as the program chair for the Canadian Retina Society and is on the Retina Section program committee for the Association for Vision in Research & Ophthalmology (ARVO).
