In 1996, Cherry Tabb and Dr. Sheldon Herzig founded Herzig Eye Institute in Toronto, a centre of excellence focused on providing patients with their best possible vision.
For nearly three decades, Cherry and Dr. Herzig’s vision has come to life. Under their guidance and leadership, Herzig Eye Institute has become a destination for thousands of patients from all over the world who have experienced the benefits of laser vision correction and refractive cataract surgery.
Dr. Sheldon Herzig, a pioneer in the field of cataract and refractive surgery, has encouraged many technological advances and leaps forward in the field of refractive surgery. Because Dr. Herzig has always looked for the next best thing to improve the level of care and outcomes for his patients, he has always moved with technology and embraced the latest frontier, like adopting the ZEISS ReLEx SMILE procedure and the development of refractive cataract surgery. With this mindset of continuous improvement, Herzig Eye Institute has become a centre of excellence with some of the most advanced technologies in the field of refractive surgery in North America.
In 2019, Herzig Eye Institute expanded into eastern Ontario with the opening of a brand new 10,000 sq. foot centre in Ottawa, Ontario. This move brought on a brand new team, including Ottawa’s Medical Director, Dr. Kashif Baig.
